New Theme – New Framework
Howdy all,
You’ve probably noticed by now that things have changed a bit. After more than three years using my old theme I’ve decided the time has finally come to upgrade my backbone/framework and re-skin the site. While the theme is in no way complete I’ve switched over to the Thesis framework and gotten the fundamentals worked out.
What this means for you is faster site performance, improved social media access through facebook, twitter, youtube and flickr as well as improved navigation and plugin/widget based feature functionality. The old theme was so old, that only about 40% of the plugins available actually worked on the site and of those many didn’t function properly.
You’ll also note that we’ve gone WIDE! I’ve opted for a much wider format blog design than my older layout. This allows more sidebar space while also providing significantly more room for larger images, video and text in the main body of posts.
If there are certain features or functionality elements you’d like to see on the new site, please let me know. Similarly, if anything breaks or isn’t working right, please shoot me an e-mail or post here.
Lastly, what do you think of it? Like it?

(Some suggestions)
1. I notice you are using the Thesis Framework (good choice) obviously make sure you are using a child theme and making any edits to that theme only (so that your changes will not be overwritten for updates).
2. Have an email newletter for those folks who don’t like RSS (or know what it is).
3. I like the Grid Loop at the bottom, but in order to utilize it to it’s full potential, you may want to shorten your posts above it and make fewer posts visible on the home page, which leads to my last point:
4. The graphic at the top is nice but large and kind of wated Real Estate. I would put a featured post there or something a la http://www.copyblogger.com/

1. So, basic I know, but how do i make sure I’m using a child theme? All I did was uploaded it and activated it.
2. Yeah, i’ve been debating kicking something like that out. Free platform you suggest? What are the options there’s like paper.ly right?
3. Yeah, I’ll play with the exact number displayed. I don’t like little post boxes. I prefer to have more content vs. less visible. “Efficiency” which results in loads of extra clicking annoys me. Though I know that’s the popular status quo atm.
