I disagree that you can use your computer to watch shows on your TV with "minimal, unnoticeable quality loss". I think that the quality loss is tolerable, but very significant.

Thanks for the responses all!

Kim - I spent 3 months with out cable internet, traveled for a bit, then came back and have been cable TV free ever since. Much harder to adapt to TV w/o internet than it is to make the Cable TV -> Internet switch. Not to mention exponentially more productive!

Alex - I could not agree more. The caps in some places are ridiculous.

Dan - Thanks bud, i'll have to check that one out!

It's really good for everybody, I have no cable bill. FOX doesn't have to pay the cable company for the privilege and they still have ad revenue. Now all we really need is for the US to step up the available bandwidth for it's citizens. I want at least 20mbits up and down for everyone in the country in 10 years or less.

I totally just did this! Definitely freeing to not have that big cable bill, plus I'm totally not even missing out on anything. Still can watch full episodes of Jon and Grey's (which are my only two shows), and the news is streaming now. Seriously, cable is just about obsolete.
