The World is Beautiful and I Want to Say Thank You! Enter to Win My High Quality Travel Photo Books

Incredible Waterfall - Fjords, Norway

The world is a spectacular place. It’s natural beauty is absolutely captivating and has left me breathless on countless occasions. Luckily, I’ve managed to pause long enough here and there to capture those moments and I have ended up with some incredible travel photos. As a thank you to my readers for their years of support I’d love to share some of my favorite travel photos with you. I’m excited to announce that I’ll be giving away two – 20 page photo books that feature some of my favorite photography from around the world. These books are printed on high quality glossy photo paper and have been extremely well received. They are unique and not available for sale anywhere.

The two winners will be chosen at random based on the following criteria and will be contacted directly after the contest period ends. Winners will also be announced on twitter and here on VirtualWayfarer.com.

How To Enter

My goal here is to share with you and say thank you, so let’s keep it simple.

1. Post a quick comment on this post between August 15th and August 25th which tells me about a place or photo that has captivated your imagination and your desire to travel (make sure you include your e-mail in the e-mail field so I can contact you if you win).

Note: While I encourage discussion in the comments each person will only be allowed one chance to win.

2. Subscribe to my Facebook Page, RSS Feed or for posts sent directly to your e-mail. In truth, this one is optional – but if you like my stuff, let’s pretend it’s mandatory and keep in touch!

That’s it!

After that keep an eye on VirtualWayfarer and Twitter for the winner’s announcement and future travel and photography giveaways.

  1. One of the most inspiring photos I’ve found recently is this one by a fantastic photographer called Michael Anderson.

I was vaguely thinking of setting up a blog to document an upcoming trip to Indonesia for friends, and it was to be nothing more than that. I stumbled across this photo, which mesmerised me and really caught my wanderlust…. Making me think about what I *really* wanted my blog to be about – the adventures I’ve had and want to have both IN the water and OUT of it. It encapsulated me perfectly. Michael gave me permission to use it on my blog and girl-independent.com was born…. And I’ve discovered a whole amazing community of travel bloggers because of it (and therefore blogs like this!)

  2. My interest in traveling was awakened the moment I first set foot on foreign soil. Before that it was just an interest, after that first time (in Japan) it was an obsession! The photos I print out and frame from my travels constantly inspire me to travel more!

  3. I may have spent only 3 hours there, but Assisi, Italy was awe inspiring. One my favorite memories/photos was, truth be told, in the Mens Bathroom in the Basilica of St Francis and the Sacro Convento. Weird, but true: the mens room is located a few floors down in the Basillica, which is built into the mountain it sits on. There, they blew a hole in the side of the mountain and replaced the entire wall of the restroom with a huge window, giving you this absolutely breathtaking view of the surrounding foothills and farm land; you could see for miles upon miles. I took a quick picture, and every time I look at it my desire to return there again to deeper explore the Basilica and the town of Assisi swells up inside me. All because I had to take a leak πŸ˜‰

  4. I love travelling, exploring new places but there is only one place in this world that I will always want to come back to.
I’m from Poland and usually I spend my holiday in the country. With my parents and brother I go to small, very small village about which, I guess, no one except members of my family knows. This is beautiful, peaceful place when you can fully relax, forget about your daily problems, stress etc. There are about 30 houses and only one small shop so everyone knows each other; people there are very nice and helpful. When you wake up in the morning, you can hear the birds singing, horses neighing and feel the smell of newly mown grain. This village is called Sypniewo and it’s near town called Margonin in Greater Poland Voivodeship; you will probably find nothing about this place on the Internet. πŸ˜‰
There are 4 photos that I took there:

This place really inspires me and leaves me speechless and breathless countless times whenever I am there and this is what makes this village is my dream place to travel to during summer holidays. πŸ™‚
The world is beautiful, it’s truth. β™₯

  5. Already following you on Facebook πŸ™‚ The place that motivated me to travel more was Cappadocia in Turkey. Realising that places not filled with brick buildings and existing around the 24 hour rat race just made me feel so lucky to be part of it.

  6. Yes. I agree that the world beautiful and we are very fortunate to live in this beautiful world. I guess that there is no such beautiful place in the universe but the Earth that we are living in.

  7. Ever since I visited Nehalem Bay, OR a couple years back, it has always called back to me. It is the picturesque location that emphasizes peace and tranquility away from the large cities. For me, it is the place where my mind can get away and relax and where nothing bad can happen (unlike how confusing and fearful everyday life can be, especially in the city).

  8. Loved visiting Zion this past July! Gorgeous place, and so much to do, it’s impossible to see it all in one trip. There will be many more trips back and to other new and exciting places. πŸ™‚

  9. Ah, I suppose I strive to travel to Australia. Goodness knows looking at any of my cousin’s photos reminds me of this. I have family out there I have yet to really meet(a cousin and grandmother I’ve never known). Plus, it would be pretty awesome if my dad came with me just so he could show me around, protect me from various poisonous creatures, and tell me about growing up in Australia. There’s one photo in particular of my dad and his brother in their teenage years, I wonder if the house they were in is still around?
